This service involves reading a manuscript in its entirety and assessing its suitability for the envisioned target market. It comes with a brief description of ways the manuscript could be developed to better suit the market. It is also easily combined with any other service.

COPYEDITING

Takes 1 to 3 months to complete, depending on word count and schedule

It's an excellent idea to have a copy editor review your manuscript before sending it to an agent, publishing house, or self-publishing platform to make sure it's easy to read and compelling. My copyediting service involves checking a manuscript for proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling, as well as weeding out any inconsistencies and assessing overall narrative flow. However, this service does not include any sort of plot or character assessment.

PROOFREADING

Starting at $15 per 1,000 words
Takes 1 week to 2 months to complete, depending on word count and schedule

Proofreading focuses on punctuation and spelling only. This service is ideal for the final draft of a novel before self-publication or querying. If you have a particular agent/publisher in mind, I would ensure the manuscript's formatting adhered to the formatting guidelines on the agent's/publisher's website before submission.
