Editing Services

The Publish Perfect Package**

Perfect for the first-time author, in this all-inclusive editing service I review a manuscript in its entirety and give big-picture recommendations regarding plot, characterization, narrative style, and structure. Then I send the manuscript back to the author for updates. After the manuscript is with me again, I review it a second time, line by line. I focus on prose, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, and any inconsistencies (if a character has green eyes somewhere and blue eyes elsewhere, for example; or if an author overuses phrases). I do everything I can to make sure the manuscript is as polished as possible and ready for publication or querying to agents and publishing houses. **NEXT AVAILABILITY FOR THIS PACKAGE IS SPRING 2022.**

MANUSCRIPT ASSESSMENT

Takes 1 to 2 months to complete, depending on schedule and novel length

This service involves reading a manuscript in its entirety and assessing its suitability for the envisioned target market. It comes with a brief description of ways the manuscript could be developed to better suit the market. It is also easily combined with any other service.

DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING

Starting at $20 per 1,000 words
Formatting for publishing platforms included in this service at your request
Takes 1 to 3 months to complete, depending on word count and schedule

Developmental editing includes a manuscript assessment; general feedback regarding plot, characterization, narrative style, organization, and market suitability; and one review of any revisions from the author. It does not include line editing, copyediting, or proofreading.

LINE EDITING

Starting at $22 per 1,000 words
Proofreading is included in this service
Takes 1 to 4 months to complete, depending on word count and schedule

Line editing is perfect if you have a story written but aren't sure if the words are convincing enough. I will go through your book line by line, evaluating your word choice, grammar, punctuation, consistency, and narrative style. I will then make updates (using Track Changes in Word or Suggesting Mode in Google Docs) to strengthen your book's prose and make sure the words on the page clearly reflect what's in your mind. This does not include manuscript assessment or developmental editing.

COPYEDITING

Starting at $18 per 1,000 words
Takes 1 to 3 months to complete, depending on word count and schedule

It's an excellent idea to have a copy editor review your manuscript before sending it to an agent, publishing house, or self-publishing platform to make sure it's easy to read and compelling. My copyediting service involves checking a manuscript for proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling, as well as weeding out any inconsistencies and assessing overall narrative flow. However, this service does not include any sort of plot or character assessment.

PROOFREADING

Starting at $14 per 1,000 words
Takes 1 week to 2 months to complete, depending on word count and schedule

Proofreading focuses on punctuation and spelling only. This service is ideal for the final draft of a novel before self-publication or querying. If you have a particular agent/publisher in mind, I would ensure the manuscript's formatting adhered to the formatting guidelines on the agent's/publisher's website before submission. This service is included in Developmental and Copyediting services as well as this standalone option.

Trying to get your novel noticed by literary agents or editors? Hire me to write your query letter! I work closely with you to present your novel in its best light and make it stand out from the crowd. This service is easily combined with any other service too.

Need a catchy description of your book to place on Amazon, Goodreads, your website, or the back cover? In this service, I write marketing blurbs and taglines specifically catered to your book's audience. This is especially helpful for self-publishing or querying. Could be combined with any of the other services if desired.

GHOSTWRITING
